Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions like autism, ADHD, global developmental delay, cerebral palsy and many more. For these children, physiotherapy focuses on improving physical function, mobility, balance, co-ordination, strength, and overall quality of life. The therapy is tailored to meet the unique needs of each person, addressing their specific challenges and goals. Through a combination of exercises, movement techniques, and sometimes the use of assistive devices, physiotherapists help children develop and strengthen their motor skills, enhancing their ability to perform daily activities independently.

Physiotherapy for these patients looks quite different to physiotherapy in other contexts. Much of the therapy for these patients is play-based, incorporating sport, activities, and games to challenge balance, co-ordination, strength, and motor planning within a safe, welcoming environment.
Our physio, Mitchell, has a special interest in working with children and young people with various neurodevelopmental conditions and disabilities. Mitch is able to see his patients in our Kariong clinic, at their home, or any other location such as a local park or swimming pool that best suits your needs and goals.
