Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common, degenerative joint condition caused by the inflammation of cartilage inside joints which leads to pain, stiffness, reduced mobility and often interferes with daily life.

Physiotherapy plays a vital role in managing OA and enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with this condition, helping them to remain active and independent.

Physiotherapy, can help to strengthen the muscles surrounding the affected joints, improve flexibility, and enhance joint function. Physiotherapists may also use manual therapy techniques to further reduce pain and improve mobility. This targeted approach not only alleviates pain but also helps increase mobility, strength, and function.

Your physiotherapist can also provide advice to help you manage your condition and help prevent future flare ups, as well as manage any that may occur so that you can continue to do the things you want and need to do.
Physiotherapy also plays a vital role in the pre-operative and post operative treatment phases of a joint replacement or operation. We are able to offer tailored treatment to get you strong and fit before your operation and will be with you afterwards to help you get back to what you want to be able to do.
